Trainability for Rules and Procedures is not a memory test in the party-trick sense. It is a
prediction: you are about to spend months being handed rule books, and the operator wants to know
whether procedure sticks to you. Some versions include an audio section; the variant without it
is sometimes called RAAT. The technique is identical.
- Study
- About three minutes with the passage
- Questions
- Around eighteen, passage removed
- Clock
- Commonly seven minutes, ending hard
- Scoring
- Correct answers; guessing is usually not punished
Read for structure, not for words
People read the passage like a page of a novel, front to back, at a comfortable pace, and get
about two thirds of the way through. Then the questions sample the whole thing evenly and the last
third is a blank.
