Situational judgement: ranking and rating
Four responses to put in order, or a scale to rate them against. It looks like a
personality test and it is not — there is a key, and the key is a safety culture written down.

Two formats, same underlying judgement. The ranking exercise gives you a situation and four
possible responses to put in order of preference, usually with a tight clock — forty-five seconds
is common. The rating exercise gives you responses to score individually on a scale, across many
more scenarios, usually untimed.
- Ranking
- Four responses in order, about 45 seconds a situation
- Rating
- Each response scored 1–5, more scenarios, untimed
- Scored against
